O.K. I started that [tag]Wallpaper removal[/tag] job today. The paper came off like a charm. We stripped a bathroom shower area and a vanity area (two-part bathroom) in less than 6 hours. Tomorrow we get paint and start rolling it out and cutting it all in.

We'll have to take the toilet tank off to finish getting the paper behind it, but that is a snap. There is some minor wall defects to fix here and there, but that is minor. Wednesday we will go in and apply the second coat and the room will be done.

They want us to touch up the trim also, but that will go fast. The goal is to get the house up on the market, so they can move to the east coast for a new job assignment. Yep, the wallpaper removal job was a snap as usual.

I got a [tag]Wallpaper removal[/tag] job to do on Monday. It's a 3 day job in an upstairs bathroom. The room has two sections. A sink and counter area and the shower area.

Once the paper is removed we are going to paint the walls and ceiling and do some minor touch up on the woodwork. The owner, a previous customer wants to sell the house and the Realtor suggested getting rid of the wallpaper.

Removing the wallpaper is usually easy, so with painting and all, it should only take 3 days with some minor wall repair here and there. I have a small book out soon for my painting book customers all about hanging wallpaper and wallpaper removal.

Do you have experience spray painting with an air brush? One of the most exciting artist techniques on the market today is painting glow-in-the-dark stars on ceilings. People of all ages love the stars.

I sleep good at night looking up at mine. As I gaze up at my ceiling in the dark looking at all the stars, it isn't long before I soon fall off to sleep. You can actually do a nice mural in less than half a day and you only need to run the air brush as finishing touches.

There doesn't seem to be much competition either since this is a specialty type of painting. Creating these star murals looks like an easy way for teenagers and retirees to make an easy dollar.

I used to think that if I ever got tired of living in cloudy, doldrum Michigan that it would be hard to relocate. I thought this because all my painting customers are in the Kalamazoo area of Michigan.

But today, I realize that is not true. As a matter of fact I know that I could move close to any large city and start getting painting business within 7 days and possibly 24 - 48 hours.

Because of the marketing methods I use, I can be up and running instantly. All I would need is access to a paint store. Having your own service business, especially your own painting business can give you financial security and stability. It can even make you quite wealthy.

Painting Business - 5 Easy Paint Buying Tips

If you just started your own painting business and you are wondering about which paints are the best to use professionally, here is a small guide to go by.

  1. If you do residential repaints always use top-of-the-line quality paints like Benjamin Moore.
  2. If you are doing rental properties you may have to use whatever crap they throw your way. But if you are getting the paint most mid-grade paints from a paint store will do. Make sure they are high-hiding.
  3. If you are doing commercial work use the paint that performs well, saves the most time and costs the least, holds up the best, etc.
  4. If you are doing industrial painting you have to keep up with the latest and greatest innovative products on the market.
  5. Whatever you are painting, make sure it is high-hiding, goes on well and looks good. There are many god paints out there. Find the ones that work best for you and stick with them.

It takes time to find the paints that you prefer. You have got to get to know your products and how they perform. The same goes for brushes and rollers.

If you need to do some [tag]spray painting[/tag] there are less expensive ways to get smaller jobs done. For years in my painting business I have used the Preval disposable aerosol sprayers. They work good for spraying latex and solvent-based paints.

If you have a small cabinet or some small indoor window shutters that you are painting for a customer, the Preval disposable sprayer works great if you thin the paint out enough to get a smooth coat.

I also just bought a disposable sprayer called the Crown spra-tool. I haven't tested it out yet, but it has two spray tips for fine or courser spraying. The bottom line is that you don't have to go out and spend a lot of money on a spray painting system for smaller projects

I love it when I get exterior painting business work starting in the spring and I get to paint outside all summer long. Especially the older ranch-style homes with lot of shade.

This is a good time to think about the paint you will be using all spring, summer and early fall. I use Benjamin Moore's exterior paints and primers. People trust the name and the top-of-the-line Benjamin Moore paints are extremely high-hiding.

In my painting business all I need is a beater work radio and I will be a happy camper. Especially since I know how to estimate exterior paint jobs. I paint with a smile on my face because I know I am making good money and I love to paint.
